YOU ARE TRYING TO ACCESS THIS SITE
WITH UNAUTHORIZED SOFTWARE

If you are seeing this page its because you either requested to or because your using AOLs cheap browser and services. If you want to see mervernation.com try downloading a fully featured and more stable anyway web browser.. while your at it, why dont you try finding a real ISP so you can actually use the internet for what it is, rather than for what AOL wants you to think it is.

whats the motivation here?
Well, AOL has decided that once it created a world wide accepted protocol of AIM that it WOULDNT allow you to use it unless you use their cheap IM software. AOL has put blocks on their servers to stop users of Trillian.
Trillian is a wonderful, free messaging package that lets you connect to IRC, YahooIM, ICQ, MSN-IM, and AIM. As far as AIM goes, its more secure, more efficient, has better features, and is better looking.

For weeks AOL has been putting blocks on the servers and for weeks Trillian developers have been striking back with new releases and patches to fix the blocking issue within hours. Recently AOL changed their attack plan by setting up some sort of BOT or hiring some monkey,.. either way,.. to message you with the following text and then disconnect you from the service.

AOL Instant Messenger: You have been disconnected from the AOL Instant Message Service (SM) for accessing the AOL network using unauthorized software. You can download a FREE, fully featured, and authorized client, here http://www.aol.com/aim/download2.html

So whats the big deal here? whats AOL worried about? Trillian has done nothing wrong. they didnt "hack" in to the servers,.. the simply gave an alternative software package that access the servers the exact same way that AIM does. I think the truth is that AOL is worried about advertising dollars and wants you to look at those stupid friggen ads that come up on your buddy list of AIM. little do they know I guess that anyone who knows anything about what they are doing is plugging that hole by editing the program and disabling the ads. when you think about it there AOL, the people who are editing those ads out are the same people who switched to Trillian anyway.

So here I am, doing my part. if enough small sites like me, and enough bigger sites like some of the ones who have done this already, do this, maybe you AOL users should complain to your provider and tell them to stop being so stupid. they might as well not let you AOL users get E-Mail from anyone except other AOL users.. Imagine that? that would be terrible wouldnt it? Ill bet thats coming at some point... especially if they are allowed to keep getting away with this Microsoft tactic.

So until then, you will not be seeing any content on the main sections of my site. youll have to play with your settings or youll have to clutter your system with another browser such as Netscape, Mozilla, Opera, IE,.. WOW! Imagine how long its going to take to download those 15 Meg files through your wonderful AOL 33.6 connections!!!! Have fun. Make sure you thank AOL for being stupid.
