MERVERNATOR
Source

My first song. Called Source because it sounds like its comming from somewhere, but I had no idea where. An Ambient/Trance mix with a GOA twist at the end. That is the best I can describe it. Its about 5:49 long and about 5.5 MB in size.

GOAway

This one is my second complete song. Called GOAway because of its GOA sound, and because of the Tribal sound which makes me think of some tribe some place playing sounds of danger and warning to intruders, telling them to go Away. Its very tribal sounding. I would have to describe it as a Tribal/GOA/Ambient/Progressive combination. About 5:51 long and 5.5 MB in size.

Pichno

Completed song number 3. This one has a little story behind it. The title "Pichno" comes from Pico and Techno put together. we all know what techno is, but Pico is refering to Picos World, the game at www.newgrounds.com. In the opening sceene there is a teacher talking to the class with what I thought was a very humours loop as the voice. I e-mailed the creator of the game and asked him where the loop was from, and if I could possibly use it in a techno song. He wrote back saying he made it himself and he would be thrilled if I used it. He was even kind enough to attach the WAV file. So here it is, This one is more techno/dance oriented. Its about 5:48 long and 5.5 MB in size.

Phrantik Darkness

A long time coming. I think I created the first samples and loops for this track back in July of 2000. Ive gone weeks working on it a lot, and months not touching it.. on and off for over 3 years till now. I wanted to make something a little darker, more GOA&Psy oriented, but not too crazy. I wanted that erie pounding ambience. once I got the first minute or so together, I came up with this name because it was indeed dark sounding, sort of a feeling of just being lost in the dark, no vision, scared... scared of the creeping sounds, things that get you frantic feeling. Its about 8:54 long and about 8.5 MB in size.

Growing

An even longer time coming. July of 1999 would seem to be when the first segment was saved to disk. Theres been a lot going on the past years, dont always have the time to work on this stuff like Id like,.. or when I do, I end up making something else that gets attention first. weather its because I dont like it at the time, or think the other project has more promise, I dont know. but recent things that Ive been through have left me in a way where I can either be destructive or constructive. Ive chosen to focus my energy on creation and these projects right now, and revist some of these projects that I had high hoped for years ago. This track started with me just messing around with some 303 settings and when I applied a filter to the extreemly short output I had beeping away, it suddenly turned in to this "heart beat" sounding loop. this is the very first thing you hear in this track. I just had this vision of some kind of mutant alien monster suspended in some kind of sack hanging from the ceiling, and all you could hear was the heartbeat, and you knew it was growing in to something big. ok, fine... at the time I didnt know what else to do with it, till about 4 months went by and I played with the track a little more for a couple days and came up witht he basic concept. at this point, I created a demo of it, but didnt really take it any further until about 3 weeks ago, right after finishing the previous track. The demo of it was pretty much bare, it had the constant 303 noise in the background over the heartbeat and then I created the decending 303 sound over that, and finally added the choir voice sounds in. that was it for years. I really liked it at that point, but had no idea what else to do with it. I knew I wanted something mostly on the GOA&Psy side of thigs but just didnt know what else to do without being too boring. I knew I wanted it to have a sound of fear, I knew I wanted it to give the impression that this thing hatched in the middle of the track and was on the loose. I experimented a couple times over the years with ways to make the beat go faster or something to make it seem more alive, but after a try or two without hearing what I wanted, Id just shelve it again. But now I really put my mind to it and had some good ideas of how to continue. I added things over the original demo pieces, but in some sections of it left it on the plainer side, just to remain true to what I liked when I first layed it out. at the same time I constructed the second half and made all the fine tune adjustments untill I was happy with each segment. Id do the end, then the begining, then the middle.. I jumped around to where I had my mind set the best on any given day. I really wanted to finish this one this year and this month. Ive always felt that this kind of music sounds best in October weather. and since I finished the other one, I thought it would be great to come back after having nothing for so long, and put out 2 new dark tracks in the same month. I really feel they go well together, and if I ever do press anything to vinyl, these 2 would be A and B on the first disc. Id have to say that this is by far the track I have enjoied creating the most. I actually like it a lot, and I normally find it VERY hard to really "like" something of my own while Im doing it. Its about 7:17 long and about 7.0 MB in size.
